Champromenty, from Coveyrand

Introduction

This hike, with a moderate difference in altitude but very long (around 20 km in total), runs through beautiful evergreen forests in the silence of nature with beautiful views, as you ascend, of the peaks of the Val di Rhêmes, the Fallère up to the Grand Combin and the Jorasses. The slope of the ascent is gentle and there are no difficulties of any kind; the only thing to consider is the possibility of beating the track, something for which, given the length, considerable physical effort is required. During the ascent, moreover, countless animal tracks can be seen, and it is therefore easy to see them in the atmospheric winter environment.

Description

From the church, turn back a few metres onto the road and take another road that climbs to the left, passes in front of the fire station, and after a hairpin bend begins the path at a no-trespassing sign. After a few minutes, you come to a fork in the road (1293m) where you turn left and begin a long traverse in a north-easterly direction. After passing the Arpettaz huts (1373m), there is a hairpin bend and you soon reach the Gerbelle dèsot huts (1445m); after two more hairpin bends, you pass the Parriod huts (1556m) and a little further on the Gerbelle damon huts (1533m). Still following the track of the track that climbs with a moderate gradient, you arrive, near a bend, at Traverse (1620m) and then make a long traverse in a north-easterly direction, passing a signpost, and then walk in the opposite direction, arriving, after a bend, at the panoramic alpine pastureland that is the destination of this excursion.
