Cima Bossola
Access
You ascend the Valchiusella to Meugliano, where, just before the village, you turn left towards Trausella. At Trausella you turn right, following the signs for Cima Bossola and Nostra Signora di Palestina. The road goes up the valley for a short while and then, turning left, begins to climb up the side of Cima Bossola. It continues uphill until the end of the asphalt road, near the Benecchio restaurant, where there is a large car park (Pian Benecchio). From here the road continues, unpaved but easily travelled by car, downhill towards Rueglio, from where you can also climb.
Introduction
Short, easy autumn or spring walk.
Description
From the forecourt, a dirt road leads off to the right (coming from Trausella), slightly uphill and closed off by a bar. You follow it and, in about 15 minutes, through a beautiful birch wood, you reach the statue of Our Lady "Our Lady of Palestine", from which there is a beautiful view of Traversella and the summit itself. Continue along the dirt road (it is possible to cut a few hairpin bends, even directly from the statue, on tracks) to an altitude of about 1250m, where it passes definitively on the Rueglio side to reach cascina Bossola. Leave the road to follow the path that climbs to the right (cairn) across a short scree slope. The trail continues along the ridge, passing a col at an altitude of 1450m, and follows it to the summit. Follow the uphill itinerary; or, having reached the col, leave the ridge to descend to cascina Bossola and return along the dirt road.
