Description
Parking at Passo delle Erbe (5 Euro) or park by the roadside.
Take path 8a behind the Utia Cir. At the Munt de Furmela hut, take path 8A to the right, which begins fairly flat but then climbs steadily upwards to the Forcella de Putia (1 hour).
To reach the summit (2875m), ascend on a steep but always evident path.
At about 2600m, it is best to keep to the left-hand path. The one on the right is the old path, which is more direct but in much worse condition (we did it on the way back).
The path leads to the base of the ferrata. To the left is the path to the Sas de Putia summit, which can be reached without any equipment.
The ferrata itself is fairly easy, but with some vertical sections.
When we did it, there were those who climbed up and down without equipment, but most of the walkers had a ferrata kit. Some used it all the time, others only attached themselves at the most vertical points.
The ascent to the summit from the fork takes about 1 hour.
The return is on the same route.
At the pass, we turned left and continued around the Sas.
The descent is mostly on the road and within 1 hour we arrive at Utia Vaciara. The path is always well marked and the ups and downs are never excessive.
At the Goma Pass, we continue first through the forest, then back on the road to Utia de Goma.
Back into the forest, following the Munt de Formela.
The entire tour takes about 7 hours including the ferrata and the various stops for photos and food.
Note:
The route is still a 'ferrata', albeit an easy one, so it is always good to have a harness and helmet.
Fortunately, when we went, everyone who climbed with young people all had a harness and used it correctly.
