Rifugio Venezia on Pelmo, from Palada

Description

From Vodo di Cadore locality Palada the steep, partly asphalted road leads to Malga Ciauta 1552 m. Once at the Malga by car, path no. 475 begins on the left in the woods, which leads steeply uphill to a fenced-in cattle pasture. The path continues with a modest difference in height across pastures and meagre woodland to the Venezia refuge, then the path descends over a grassy hump (the cattle are intrigued by our presence) to the Rutòrto Pass 1849 m. The path then leads to the refuge for a short, steep stretch. In rainy weather, the soggy pastures and cattle tracks make the path tiring. The Alta Via delle Dolomiti No. 3 runs along part of the route. The damp terrain allows for dense vegetation with much flora.
