Nefelgiù Pass, from the Alpe Stafel car park

Access

From Domodossola continue to Val Formazza, past the Toce waterfall and La Frua. Park at the Pernice Bianca Restaurant (Alpe Stafel 1739 m).

Introduction

Beautiful excursion in the Vallone di Nefelgiù without any technical or mountaineering commitment, characterised by stupendous aerial views towards Lake Morasco on the way up and Lake Vannino once the pass is reached.

Description

From the parking area of the Pernice Bianca restaurant, go up towards the north-west along a steep path, dividing the hill above, and continue along the easy roadway that leads into the Vallone di Nefelgiù (beautiful view of Lake Morasco and the Vallone del Gries). Continue until the cart track becomes a path at Alpe Nefelgiù. From here, continue along a logical path next to the stream, well signposted, which first leads over sparse pastureland with cows and then over boulder-strewn moraines directly to the Nefelgiù pass.
