Monte Soglio, from the Sanctuary of the Milani
Description
At Forno Canavese, follow the signs for the Santuario dei Milani. Leaving the car behind, you walk along the well-marked 803 path to the summit, crossing the dirt road leading to the upper pastures a few times. On reaching the Alpe del Cont (approx. 1560m), it is also possible to continue on variants A (advisable) and B. B is steeper and more direct and follows the south-east ridge, while A has gentle, long zig-zags that cut across the south side of the peak. From the summit of Monte Soglio, descend along the ridge (path 406, always well marked) opposite the ascent path to the lowest point of the ridge that joins Monte Soglio to Cima Mares. From here, with gentle ups and downs, follow the entire ridge, pass San Bernardo di Mares (1546 m) and easily reach the summit of Cima Mares (1654 m).). the return is along the same path. a wonderful view of the canavese mountains, of monviso and cervino, whose final peak can be glimpsed in the distance. n.b.: the walking time indicated is that marked on the signs along the paths.
