Access

From Gravedona (western shore of Lake Como) you drive up to Peglio and to the hamlet of Bodone on an asphalt road, where you can park.

Introduction

Beautiful hike with stunning views over Lake Como. In years with little snow it can also be done in mid-winter, if you can drive up to the Bodone hamlet. There are almost no paths, but the route is always evident on the ridge line. Firm footing required for the short final climb to the summit of Duria. The Duria, with Bregagno and Sasso Canale constitutes one of the most interesting excursions on the western shore of the Lario.

.

Description

On foot, continue uphill along the carriage road, which ends after a few hundred metres at an aqueduct. We then continue on a wide path along the open ridge to the summit of Monte La Motta: still on the ridge, now slightly downhill, we reach Alpe Paregna. Here the path almost disappears, and it is not necessary to follow the inviting track that cuts across the ridge on the right, but to climb steeply up the main ridge, among the tufts of grass. You thus quickly gain altitude, to find traces of the path further up, at the foot of the final gully that leads, amidst the debris, to a fork a short distance from the summit. This can be reached via a small wall, still on the side of the lake (I° steps) and then via broken rocks and debris.
