Introduction

Beautiful walk that reaches without difficulty a summit that, although secondary, the altitude and isolated position make it extremely panoramic over the Valtellina furrow and the valleys south of Monte Disgrazia. The route is unusually well signposted and indicated at every junction, and is also precise on the terminal ridge, until the triple summit is reached.

Description

From Prato Maslino 1581 m, following the various dirt tracks or cutting across the meadows between huts and cottages, you will reach the north-western edge of the alpine pastureland where a beautiful mule track begins in the woods. Follow it up and down as a long mule track leads past the spur of the Dosso di Piviana. Leaving aside a diversion to the left for Gaggio di Monastero, start to climb until, outside the fir forest, you reach the Vignone valley-mountain pasture 1991 m. [Presence of two huts-bivouacs with key available. Emergency hospitality, very basic]. The path, narrower but still clearly visible, climbs up to a small suspended valley that is not noticeable from below, where we find the few huts of Baric 2261 m. We continue along the bottom of the little valley on the pastures, avoiding some landslides of stones and finally ascending - to the left - to an unmapped pass at around 2600 m. A marker indicates on the right (east) ridge the continuation of the itinerary: traces of a path among the stones ascend to a grassy ledge that precedes the terminal rocks. The summit is made up of three culminating points connected by stony ridges: the west and east peaks have stone cairns and the central peak - slightly higher at 2753 m - is characterised by a small cross with a CAI Berbenno plaque. Return along the outward route.
