Description
Departure from the Tognola Cabinovia (€7 one-way in 2013) located at the entrance to San Martino di Castrozza, coming from Fiera di Primiero.
From the arrival of the Tognola cableway, after the customary photo of the magnificent Pale di San Martino, we went up the ski slope, arrived at the arrival of a second chairlift (not working in summer) and continued on to the Tegnola peak (2220m) and the Tegnazza peak (2235m).
This whole section of the trail was still covered in snow in early July, but we still managed to conquer the summit! After descending to the Forcella Scanaiol, we took path no. 9 to the right and descended towards the Malga Tognola.
It is a beautiful walk through the forest, with a fairly level path that passes under another chairlift and leads us to the Malga (1988m).
From here we stay to the left of the river, (we do not take the road), we pass under another chairlift and at the fork we continue on the left towards the Malga Valcigolera (1837m) and then on path 10, wide and flat we go around the Punta Ces.
Now we start to descend, skirting the Colbricon until we reach the Colbricon Pass (1908m) and shortly afterwards we arrive at the lakes.
For the return journey, we took path 348 to the Malga Ces.
We take the road and at the second fork we take path no. 2 on the right.Again at the second fork we take path no. 16 towards Malga Crel. The path towards the Tognola Cabinovia, Malga Frattazza is then well marked on the left.
The view in this area is stupendous, the Pale on one side and the Lagorai chain on the other.
Unfortunately, the path passes through the Skiarea Tognola, and unfortunately the pylons of the chairlifts disfigure the landscape. On top of that, they leave the seats on many skilifts even in summer, so the chairlifts are even more noticeable.
That said, those who, like me, like to use the skilifts in winter, can't then complain when they find themselves in front of them in summer too.
