Refuge Mont Fallère
Introduction
Description
The Mont Fallère Refuge, located at an altitude of 2,385 metres, is one of the most characteristic and popular refuges in the Aosta Valley. Inaugurated in 2012, it is located at the foot of the mountain of the same name, in a panoramic position offering breathtaking views of the region's main peaks, including Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn and Gran Paradiso. The hut is surrounded by picturesque landscapes, with small alpine lakes and vast meadows that are filled with flowers in fine weather.
One of the special features that make the Refuge Mont Fallère special is the presence of numerous wooden sculptures along the paths leading to the hut. These works of art, created by the local artist Siro Viérin, depict wild animals and scenes of alpine life, adding a touch of local culture and tradition to the hiking experience.
The hut is an ideal starting point for numerous hikes and ascents, including that to Mont Fallère (3,061 m), which is the main peak in the area. Access to the hut is possible via several trails, the best known of which starts at Vetan, in the commune of Saint-Pierre. The ascent takes about two and a half hours, along a well-marked path that winds its way through pastures and woods, offering panoramic views along the way.
The Mont Fallère Refuge has 60 beds and is open during the summer season, from June to September, and in some winter periods, offering hospitality to hikers as well as trekking and ski-mountaineering enthusiasts. The cuisine is typical of the Aosta Valley, with dishes based on local ingredients, allowing you to discover the traditional flavours of the region.
Thanks to its privileged location, the hut is an ideal stop not only for mountain lovers, but also for those seeking an experience immersed in the nature and alpine culture of the Aosta Valley.
