Fiernaz Chapel
Description
The present church, erected in 1837, is dedicated to the Visitation and St Roch. Compared to the other chapels in the municipality, the one in Fiernaz has a more articulated shape and a larger bell tower. The latter dates back to 1891 and bears a fresco by Mazzini, depicting Our Lady of the Guard. Unfortunately, the painting is now very degraded and rather faded. In the opening of the bell tower, in the direction of the main façade, one can see a small plaster statue depicting an angel kneeling in prayer, looking towards the mountain. At the entrance, the façade is adorned with four frescoes painted by Grange in 1869. In three panels, St. Roch is depicted on the left, the Madonna and Child in the centre and St. George slaying the dragon on the right. At the top, above the reniform window and the saints, the figure of the Eternal Father emerges. Inside, the 19th-century altar with the gilded statue of the Madonna, from Aosta Cathedral and kept in the church since 1856, stands out.
