Introduction

The Bivacco Alberto Zamboni bivouac, located at an altitude of 2,008 metres in the Azzaredo-Casù Forest in the municipality of Mezzoldo, is currently unusable. For any needs, we recommend contacting the nearby Balicco Refuge.

Description

The bivouac, renovated by ERSAF and managed by CAI Alta Valle Brembana, is open all year round, but it is recommended to visit between April and November. The Azzaredo-Casù Forest, where the bivouac is located, extends over 114 hectares along the Bergamo slopes of the Orobie Mountains and is characterised by white and red spruce forests, as well as pastures that are home to alpine grazing activities with the production of D.O.P. "Bitto" cheese.Behind the bivouac passes the famous Sentiero delle Orobie, a hiking trail that crosses the upper part of the pastures, contributing to the growing tourist value of the area.
The bivouac was equipped with a table, four beds on planking (without mattresses and blankets), a fireplace with wood, solar energy, running water, a gas cooker and a small supply of emergency equipment. However, due to its unfit for use, these resources are not currently accessible.
